What you need to know about cellulite plastic surgery

Is plastic surgery known as cellulite liposuction really the answer?
Cellulite is a common term that has been used to describe the dimpled appearance of the skin that some people get on their thighs, hips and buttocks. This condition is rarely seen in men but can be found in over 80% of women over the age of 20 and Mommy Makeover San Diego can be a help. Originally thought to be linked with obesity, it has been since discovered that cellulite holds no such connection. While cellulite occurs because of the body’s fat cells, its appearance is only due to the way the fat cells lie on or in between the connective tissues of the body, not because of how many fat cells an individual actually has. Cellulite is a problem that we all would like to get rid of, but is plastic surgery the answer? Is this really the best way to reduce cellulite or is non-surgical cellulite reduction a better choice?
Before answering that question we should take a closer look at plastic surgery for cellulite. We need to compare the results vs. potential dangers.
What is liposuction?
Liposuction in general is surgery to take out fat from under your skin to try and improve your physical appearance. Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. It is the only proven effective treatment capable of removing fat from localized deposits. Liposuction does not reduce cellulite by itself. Liposuction is a process of removing fats in specific areas. Some plastic surgeons perform a technique of cellulite lysing using a liposuction cannula (hollow tube powered by gas or electricity) that features a smooth, round-tipped tunnelling rod inserted in a hollow casing with a sharp, V-pronged cutting edge. Devices that are used for suction will be inserted through a small incision in the patient’s body, and surgeon will then take the fat out. It’s basically a suction tube or an ultrasonic device that can break up the fat and then suck it out of your body for a total body makeover. With this technology, an increasing amount of women are turning to cosmetic surgeons to do something about cellulite.

So what can plastic surgery do for cellulite?
Since liposuction can remove fat from virtually any place of your body, this type of plastic surgery for cellulite has become a method (but not an effective method) for removing cellulite. You can expect to see a certain degree of results with surgery for cellulite and even greater results from some of the non-surgical cellulite reduction alternatives to surgery. Although for some women, liposuction does improve the appearance of cellulite but liposuction is not a solution for cellulite. It may improve it but it will not make it go away.
The duration of the surgery depends on the area treated and the amount of fat removed. The cost is also related to this. Devices that are used for suction will be inserted through a small incision in the patient’s body, and surgeon will then take the fat out. It’s basically a suction tube or an ultrasonic device that can break up the fat and then suck it out of your body. With this technology, an increasing amount of women are turning to cosmetic surgeons to do something about cellulite for the best result of makeover of their body.

Is Coaching Really Just Therapy?

Coaching therapyAs a coach and psychotherapist practicing in Los Angeles, many people ask me about the differences between the two approaches. Because there tends to be a lot of confusion, clients sometimes end up in the wrong place. Today most people know when to seek therapy, but coaching remains somewhat misunderstood. Although coaching has borrowed some of its ideas from psychology for a character compass, there are significant distinctions between them.

Coaching began in the corporate sector back in the 70’s and 80’s when it became clear that executives and corporate leaders could benefit from consultants helping them refine their “people” skills. And then life coaching took off in the 90’s as elements of executive coaching were adapted to working one-on-one with individuals wanting to move forward with life goals. Today coaching has an international presence as it shows up in the corporate world as well as countless other settings.

When a client first contacts me, I ask them specific questions to ensure they’re finding the right kind of support. For instance, if a client seeks coaching but instead focuses exclusively on a recent crisis or emotional pain, they’re probably more appropriate for therapy. On the other hand, a coaching client needs to be able to identify specific goals and to be able to collaborate with a coach.

Due to legal and ethical boundaries, I never work with a client as both a coach and psychotherapist–I wear only one hat per client. For example, if I’m working with a coaching client and I discover they would benefit from therapy, we discuss psychotherapy referrals. And the same applies if I’m working with a psychotherapy client who may benefit from coaching. In Los Angeles we have so many talented clinicians and healers, and I believe that a team approach is always more valuable to a client.

Coaches focus primarily on leveraging one’s strengths. So the attention is given to one’s resourcefulness and resiliency. These qualities may also be processed in psychotherapy, but this is a primary emphasis for coaches. The coach also helps the clients identify values, passions and priorities and holds these intentions for the client. So the focus of coaching begins with the vision and then holds the client accountable toward their vision.

In conclusion, coaching and psychotherapy both serve a distinct and vital purpose as they complement the work with our clients. As one of the most diverse communities in the world, Los Angeles has a multi-dimensional professional community. Through successful collaboration, we will be more effective with our clients as they receive the benefits of a more cohesive, team approach.

The most important aspect of Recovery Coaching is the understanding that all coaching goals need to support sobriety at all times. Because relapse is so often a part of recovery, a coach needs to receive specialized Recovery Coach training. Sometimes recovery issues will be a focal point and sometimes they will be only be part of the coaching experience. The agenda is always up to the client to decide what gets discussed or not and the coach is never in the role of sponsor or therapist. For instance, not all clients will choose to follow a twelve-step approach and a Recovery Coach never dictates which path a client chooses as long as the client’s goals are supported by their choices and actions along the way.

A Tribute to a Master Machinist

A&B Die Casting – Benda Tool, with its imposing building and modern manufacturing facilities in the San Francisco East Bay, epitomizes the successful machine shop. This family business was run by three generations of Dathe’s until two years ago when Ben Dathe, the patriarch, finally retired at the age of 96. It also needs to be noted that there is an offshoot business, Ascent Manufacturing, which is run by Ben’s other son, Ben Walter Dathe in Santa Clara, CA. Of course, during the last few years, Ben hadn’t really been involved in the everyday activities of running the firm. Instead he preferred to do what he loved best: Crank handles on the shop floor, run machines and build dies. And it is only his failing knees that finally led to the decision to retire. In order to not be tempted to sneak back in to the shop, he chose to retire far away to a ranch in Oregon. There, surrounded by hazelnut orchards, he now lives with his Daughter, Marge Cieri, and her family, leaving Benda Tool in the capable hands of his oldest son Robert and his grandson Steve.

Ben Dathe’s career in metalworking is certainly a noteworthy one as it spans eight decades and two continents. Born on February 10, 1906, he grew up in Dresden, Germany, and at age fourteen, enrolled into a tool and die apprenticeship with the famous optical company, Zeiss, in the town of Jena. After graduating at 18, he only lasted for two more years before succumbing to the call of the New World and emigrating to America. Here he quickly found a job with Kodak in Rochester, NY. But he lasted only a short time with that company until youthful restlessness led him to travel to Evansville, Indiana, where he had some relatives. Another disc personality test move took him to Dearborn, Michigan where he went to work for Ford Motor Company. Ben fondly remembers the days when old Henry Ford would still walk the shop floor to chat with the tool makers or admonish the assembly line workers not to leave tools lying around. Nonetheless, he didn’t stay there very long either but went to GM to check out the competition. Following the motto, “a rolling stone may not gather any moss – but it sure gets a lot of polish”, he kept moving from shop to shop, “so as to be able to accumulate the greatest amount of experience possible”. By and by he ended up in Milwaukee, where he met Marge, who became his wife and the mother of his children. He went to work at the Harley Davidson Motorcycle plant, where he was instrumental in designing the famous “tear drop” gas tank. According to Ben, in those days the company furnished some workers with the newest-design bikes – “just gave one to them” – and then asked for an evaluation. The workers were the test pilots and their compensation was a free motor cycle. What a deal! Even so, Ben soon found he needed to move again. He got into die casting and followed jobs to Madison, and eventually to Chicago.

Finally, in 1936 Ben responded to a job offer from Western Die Casting in Emeryville, California, a move which turned out to be a turning point in his career. The war years found him involved mostly in the defense industry, eventually ending up in a job, which, though it paid good money, left him restless and bored. The work was humdrum and unfulfilling and Ben started to toy with the idea of starting his own business. A Bridgeport mill in his garage – the prototypical initiation of many a machining business – work contracted from his boss at Western, and Benda Tool was born. That was in 1946 and ahead of the economic boom that eventually followed World War II. The fledgling company quickly grew and prospered.

Using Cholesterol Lowering Medication

While diet and exercise remain the major checks on high cholesterol levels, cholesterol lowering medication is prescribed in many cases, usually in combination with dieting and physical activity. Cholesterol in blood is in the form of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and triglycerides. The goal of using cholesterol lowering medication is to reduce the concentration of LDL, since it is the most harmful of cholesterol types; also to decrease triglycerides, and to maintain or increase HDL as it works to lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Time to start that diet

Cholesterol Lowering Drugs

Several drugs are, in common practice, used as cholesterol lowering medication. Some important names among these are fibrates, statins, nicotinic acid, and bile acid sequestrants. click here

Fibrates

Fibrates act effectively by lowering the level of triglycerides and, to some degree, boosting HDL level. However, these drugs are not targeted at lowering the concentration of LDL. Studies reveal that most of the fibrates-users with heart diseases face a lower risk of heart attack. Gemfibrozil is the best known fibrate in the US.

Dosage of fibrates includes two doses daily. Fibrates do not have many side effects, though some gastric and intestinal problems have been reported. Further, fibrates can intensify the action of medicines that work by thinning the blood (prescribed mostly for high blood pressure).

Statins

Statins are the most effective type of cholesterol lowering medication when it comes to lowering the LDL in blood. Hence, these are the drugs most often prescribed to patients of cardiovascular diseases who suffer severe heart problems. Statins slow down the production of cholesterol and help the liver more efficiently remove the LDL present in the blood.

What makes them ideal for treating patients is the fact that statins also bring down the concentration of triglycerides and in addition boost the HDL in blood. Important statins include lovastatin, simvastatin, pravastatin, fluvastatin, and atorvastatin.  Statins are administered one dose daily, preferably in the evening.  Except minor digestive disorders, statins have no serious adverse effects.

Cholesterol medication, classified as a statin drug, has been medically proven to lower the levels of cholesterol.  However, with any medication, you should discuss this option with your physician as there are particular side effects associated with this cholesterol medication.

This particular category of cholesterol-lowering drugs combines with the bile that is secreted by the gallbladder and liver and works within the intestinal tract.  This combination of the statin medication, along with the bile, softens the ingested fatty food substance, which allows for that food to be absorbed.

Side effects could include muscle aches and if these symptoms develop you should contact your physician.

Nicotinic Acid

The principal constituent of nicotinic acid is niacin, a type of vitamin B, which reduces triglycerides and LDL while boosting HDL part of the cholesterol. This makes it an effective cholesterol lowering medication. In addition, it is a relatively inexpensive drug, usually available without a physicians prescription. However, it is not at all wise to use it since it carries side effects (hot flashes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea etc.). It also tends to increase blood sugar and therefore is not suggested to be used by diabetics.

Bile Acid Sequestrants

Bile acid sequestrants act by lowering LDL up to 20 %. These can be used in combination with a stain (if prescribed). Main types of bile acid sequestrants prescribed are cholestyramine, colestipol, and colesevelam. Intake of these drugs includes mixing with water or fruit juice and taken once or twice daily. Bile acid sequestrants might interfere with the proper absorption of other medicines being used.

English Second Division Championship

Born and brought up in the suburb of Cabra in Dublin on the 30th of April 1954, Gerry Daly kick-started his round ball career at the widely acclaimed soccer academy of Stella Maris Football Club in the suburb of Drumcondra before the promising and precociously talented youngster tried out his luck with famous League of Ireland club Bohemians of Dublin. An accurate shooting and sweet passing midfield dynamo with attacking instincts and natural fitness too, the Dalymount Park favourite was eventually brought to British football and Manchester United by newly appointed Old Trafford boss Tommy Docherty for a bargain transfer fee of around £20,000 at the end of the 1972–73 season. After being handed his English First Division debut for Manchester United in an embarrassing and humiliating 3–0 defeat against Bertie Mee´s Arsenal side in front of a 50,000 plus home crowd at Highbury Stadium on the opening day of the 1973–74 campaign, Gerry Daly went on to accumulate 111 English Football League appearances for The Red Devils of Manchester, contributing a most creditable twenty-three goals during the process.

Despite Manchester United being relegated to the English Football League Division Two in 1973–74, he played consistently well in his first year and he was an important part of the exciting and youthful Old Trafford team which clinched the English Second Division Championship title three points ahead of Ron Saunder´s Aston Villa during the 1974–75 season and went on to take the English First Division by storm the following fodbold online campaign. The midfield engine from The Big Smoke was also an integral constituent of the confident Manchester United Squad who reached the FA Cup Final at the Wembley Stadium in 1975–76 only to experience a devastating and embarassing 1–0 defeat at the hands of Lawrie McMenemy´s Southampton. Along their way to the FA Cup Final in 1976, The Reds of Manchester had managed to overcome Oxford United, Peterborough United, Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and finally defending English First Division Champions Derby County at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, while Lawrie McMenemy´s plucky Southampton players had managed to knock out Aston Villa, Blackpool, West Bromwich Albion, Bradford City and then Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in London. But following a long and bitter dispute with the sometimes controversial and very often flamboyant Manchester United Head Coach Tommy Docherty in the spring of 1977, Gerry Daly was deemed surplus to requirements by the firebrand Old Trafford manager and, as a logical and natural consequence of all this, the offensive oriented midfield administrator was placed on the transfer list with the wayward playmaker subsequently leaving the club for fellow First Division side Derby County for a transfer fee of around £175,000 at the back end of the 1976–77 season. And even though Daly was quickly to be reunited with his previous manager when The Doc was handed the head coaching reigns at Derby at the front end of the 1977–78 campaign, the dependable and determined perpetuum mobile nonetheless proceeded to produce an acceptable total of thirty-one goals in 112 English Football League appearances for The Rams before he left the newly relegated Baseball Ground club at the end of the 1979–80 season.

The Dubliner then had a summer loan spell with Foxborough side New England Tea Men of the North American Soccer League which at that time included great teams like the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Los Angeles Aztecs, New York Cosmos, Tampa Bay Rowdies and Washington Diplomats and also featured household footballing names along the lines of  Carlos Alberto, Franz Beckenbauer, Giorgio Chinaglia, Johan Cruyff, Roger Davies, Alan Hudson, Johan Neeskens, Bruce Rioch, Julio Cesar Romero, and Wim Rijsbergen. After starring in over forty first team games for the Foxborough Stadium club, the still ambitious and technically gifted central midfielder decided to join forces with League Division One team Coventry City for a activity life transfer fee estimated to be somewhere in the region of around £300,000 at the beginning of the 1980–81 season. At Highfield Road Stadium, the vastly experienced veteran player teamed up with other seasoned campaigners such as Jimmy Blyth, Mick Coop, Roger Van Gool, Big Jim Holton, Steve Hunt and Tommy Hutchison and he would enjoy a new lease of life during the early part of the 1980´s. The Irishman received his Football League Division One debut for Gordon Milne´s Coventry City in a goallless draw against defending First Division Champions Liverpool at Highfield Road on the 19th of August 1980, and he racked up nineteen Football League goals in eighty-four outings for The Sky Blues until he waved goodbye to the Warwickshire club at the end of the 1983–84 campaign.
